Introduction

The Born Again Rehabilitation Centre (BARC) is a registered voluntary non-profit making organization founded on 21st June 1999 by a group of like-minded individuals. The organization has been implementing a 15- Bedded Integrated Rehabilitation centre for Addicts (IRCA) at Meizailung, Ukhrul District, Manipur under grant-in-aid from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, New Delhi under the Scheme for Prevention of Alcoholism & Substance (Drugs) Abuse. Born Again Rehabilitation Centre has established a name for itself because of the successful implementation of IRCA Project. The services provided by the IRCA have brought about positive impacts and changes in the lives of the addicts, the family and community. Preventive Education/Awareness Generation Programme sensitized/educate people about the ill-effects of alcoholism and substance abuse on individual, family, workplace and the society at large. It contributes to the prevention of alcoholism and substance abuse. Identification of addicts and motivational counseling, de-addiction, after-care and rehabilitation make a person drug free, crime free and develop positive attitude towards life.

Vision and Mission

The ‘VISION’ behind the establishment of the organization is to give a ‘NEW HOPE’ to the weaker sections of the society in general and to the desperate addicts living under the bondage of addiction in particular. Its ‘MISSION’ is to ‘PROVIDE FACILITIES AND SERVICES’.

The office of the centre is located at Meizailung, Ukhrul District, P.O. Ukhrul-795142, Manipur, India.

Objectives

  • To organize and conduct preventive education/awareness generation programme
  • To assess the problem of clients and motivate them to enter treatment
  • To provide detoxification and medical care to the clients
  • To provide psychological therapy to the patients
  • To provide vocational rehabilitation to the recovered addicts
  • To provide after care services to the clients

Goal

To enable the addicts to achieve total abstinence and improve the quality of their lives by helping them to:

  • identify areas of necessary change and take action
  • become aware of risk factors for relapse and develop positive coping skills
  • strengthen inter-personal relationship
  • develop healthy work ethics
  • sustain their recovery through follow-up services
